Fontanafredda is by far one of the most historic companies in Barolo, where the first Nebbiolo vineyard was planted in 1866. This Barolo Riserva 2010 is an example of globally recognized Italian quality, an iconic wine. Produced only in a few vintages, when the nature surpasses the hand of the man, with a traditional selection only of the best grapes from the best grapes from the historically best exposed owned vineyards, this great wine, now in great shape, will be able to evolve for at least another 20 years.

The elegant appearance of this Barolo Riserva is that of a splendid garnet color with ruby reflections. The aromatic profile is intense and pervasive: morello cherry and wild strawberries in jam, that evolve into tertiary aromas of dried mushrooms and topsoil, mentholated balsamic notes of resin. The palate is in tune with such a very varied nose: it is warm, soft, with sweet and velvety tannins though still well-structured that match nicely with a fresh acidity and a long final persistence.
