Production Area

Montemiletto – Irpinia

This 2015 Taurasi best expresses the potential of the Irpinia area: it is a complex and multifaceted wine of great structure. The 2015 was a particularly interesting vintage for aging wines, the very hot summer helped the grapes to develop abundant tannins. The sugar content of the grapes went up as well, which resulted in an important alcohol content, and therefore the wines of that vintage will age and refine several decades before reaching their most elegant version. The terroir of Montemiletto, surrounded by bushes, with vineyards facing south east and with a clayey soil, combined with the long aging in wood, is expressing now wines that can be considered an Italian excellence.

This 2015 Taurasi has an intense, considerable ruby color. Its aromatic profile is best expressed after a long oxygenation: the fresh fruit still predominates with plum and cherry in evidence, followed by spicy notes of black pepper, and then Mediterranean herbs such as juniper and mastic. In the mouth the wine is austere: the tannins are still predominant; the wine is warm and enveloping but well balanced by the lashing acidity. Herbaceous and woody finish.
