The Giovin Re was born from a sudden intuition. Michele Satta was tasting the grapes during the harvest and found their aromatic richness extraordinary, so he decided to vinify this Viognier in purity. The Giovin Re confirms its value year after year. Coming from a single vineyard, Vignanova, the Giovin Re is considered one of the most interesting whites in the Italian wine scene, a “must have” for aficionados.
The “Giovin Re” (literally the Young King) is a wine of a fascinating golden color, intense and brilliant. The aromas emanating from the glass are extremely broad: in the beginning white orange blossom, frangipani and jasmine, then Mirabelle plums and yellow melon, in the end Mediterranean herbs and acacia honey. On the palate it is a buttery, full-bodied, extremely gastronomic wine. The palate is consistent with the olfactory sensations, yet the sip surprises with its marine sapidity that calls for the next sip. An enjoyable wine now, phenomenal in a few years.
