Historia Familiae is a very high-level super Tuscan, produced by Ricasoli for the first time in 2013 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Francesco Ricasoli’s inauguration as president of the company and was dedicated to his ancestors. This great wine is produced in very small quantities, a few thousand bottles, and exclusively in exceptional vintages. It is the result of the selection of the best grapes from the best vineyards, which boast a unique richness and diversity of soils, altitudes and exposures. The wine that comes from this selection is extremely rich and complex, which can age for tens of years. The elegant bottle inlaid with gold, with the Ricasoli family tree, is a luxurious collectors’ item.
At the sight Historia Familiae is of a very dense, almost impenetrable, purplish ruby color. It slowly unveils its aromatic profile, layer by layer: first blackberries and blueberries, elderberries, then aromas of musk, spices such as star anise and nutmeg, sandalwood and licorice, finally leather and tar. On the palate we find the same complexity: thick and dense tannins, wrapping and velvety, great body well balanced by the powerful acidity and sapidity. Great persistence with spicy and balsamic come back.
