We chose “Il Mio Sangiovesone 2017” as an absolutely unique and innovative expression of Sangiovese. Produced in a particularly hot and favorable year near Cortona, Baracchi has chosen to let the grapes dry directly on the plant until the end of September: in this way the concentration of sugars has reached uncommon levels, which during the fermentation brought the wine to have a concentration of 18% alcohol. The drying of the fruit, besides increasing its sugar content has given Il Mio Sangiovesone 2017 a truly unique richness and complexity, giving vigor and body, but also muscular tannins and acidity, characteristics that will allow the wine to be aged for decades. This is an exclusive wine of its kind as well as rare because it is produced in very limited quantities, an ideal investment in the medium-long term.
At the first glance, this wine has a very intense and brilliant ruby color while the nose is of an extraordinary richness and a complexity that it makes you wonder: floral notes of peony and ancient rose that then move to fruity notes of sour cherries under spirit and ripe blackberries. They are followed by hints of spices such as star anise and nutmeg. In the mouth it is enveloping and very warm, the tannins are very powerful but round and velvety, and the sip is refreshed by a pleasant acidity combined with a balsamic finish.
